Regularity Recipe

Regularity Recipe
The following is a recipe for a high-fiber jam that can be make at home and kept in the refrigerator. Eating it with toast or crackers daily can help provide fiber to your diet and reduce constipation. It also may be helpful for symptoms of Irritable Bowel Syndrome.

High Fiber Jam
1 cup applesauce
1 cup bran
½ cup prune juice

This mixture should have a jam-like consistency. Keep mixture refrigerated in a covered container.

Eat one tablespoon of the mixture every evening for a morning bowel movement. If you do not notice an improvement within a couple of days, increase your portion to two tablespoons every evening. For most people this is enough. However, if you are not experiencing regular bowel movements, you may add up to two tablespoons in the morning as well, up to a maximum of four. Always drink one large glass of water with the jam to prevent gassiness!
